3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Mesh Editing – Vertex Weld

The Vertex Weld modifier behaves like the Weld feature in Editable Mesh or Editable Patch by combining all vertices within a specified distance from each other into a single vertex. Vertex Weld is useful for cleaning up meshes that contain clusters of vertices within small areas.

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry

GENERAL

1. Create an object
2. Select the object, RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Vertex Weld
3. RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Vertex Weld> setup parameters

ERASE THE MODIFIER

RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> LMB over the modifier (blu highlight)> RMB over the modifier> Delete

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Mesh Editing – Smoot

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Mesh Editing – Smoot

The Smooth modifier provides auto-smoothing based on the angle of adjacent faces. You can apply new smoothing groups to objects.

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Mesh Editing – Quadify Mesh

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Mesh Editing – Quadify Mesh

The Quadify Mesh modifier converts the object structure to quadrilateral polygons whose relative size you specify. This capability helps to produce rounded edges when combined with Subdivision Surfaces modifiers.

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry

GENERAL

1. Create an object
2. Select the object, RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Quadify Mesh
3. RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Quadify Mesh> setup parameters

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Mesh Editing – ProOptimizer

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Mesh Editing – ProOptimizer

The ProOptimizer modifier reduces the memory overhead needed to render models by decreasing the number of vertices and polygons.

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry

GENERAL

1. Create an object
2. Select the object, RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Optimize
3. RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> ProOptimizer> click ‘Calculate’> Change Vertex% or Vertex Count
