3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Relax

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Relax

The Relax modifier changes the apparent surface tension in a mesh by moving vertices closer to, or away from, their neighbors.

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry
– animate a geometry

GENERAL

1. Create an object
2. Select the object, RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Relax
3. RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Relax> Parameters

ERASE THE MODIFIER

RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> LMB over the modifier (blu highlight)> RMB over the modifier> Delete

3DS MAX – Modifiers – Push

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Push

It inflates the geometry. The Push modifier lets you “push” object vertices outward or inward along the average vertex normals.

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry
– animate a geometry

GENERAL

1. Create an object
2. Select the object, RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Push
3. RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Push> modify the parameters

ERASE THE MODIFIER

3DS MAX – Modifiers – Preserve

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Preserve

The Preserve modifier lets you retain, as much as possible, the edge lengths, face angles, and volume of an edited and deformed mesh object using an unmodified copy of the object before it was deformed.

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry
– animate a geometry

GENERAL

1. Create an object (OBJECT A)
2. Create a copy (OBJECT B)
2. Select the OBJECTA, RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Preserve
3. RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Preserve> Parameters> ‘Pick Original’> pick OBJECT B in the viewport

ERASE THE MODIFIER

RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> LMB over the modifier (blu highlight)> RMB over the modifier> Delete

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Mirror

Mirror the object

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry
– animate a geometry

GENERAL

1. Create an object
2. Select the object, RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Mirror
3. RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Mirror> modify the parameters

ERASE THE MODIFIER

3DS MAX – Modifiers – Lattice

3DS MAX – Micro Reference Manual – Modifiers – Lattice

The Lattice modifier converts the segments or edges of a shape or object into cylindrical struts with optional joint polyhedra at the vertices. Use this either to create renderable structural geometry based on the mesh topology, or as an alternate method to achieve a rendered wireframe effect.

With this modifier you can:

– model a geometry
– animate a geometry

GENERAL

1. Create an object
2. Select the object, RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Modifier List> OBJECT-SPACE MODIFIERS> Lattice
3. RIGHT COLUMN> Modify> Lattice> modify the parameters

ERASE THE MODIFIER
